Fertspread Placement Calibration

This calculator is designed to assess the performance of placement machines such as planters or side-dressers which lay or place bands of fertiliser on or in the ground. See also our Fertiliser Spreader Calibration tool for machines that spread fertiliser by throwing.

This version of FertSpread does not store your data or keep any records. Leaving or refreshing this page will delete all your data, so print reports and export the data or graphs if you want to save them.

Beta version: See disclaimer at foot of page.

⚡ Calibration Test

Application Rate Formula:

Application Rate (kg/ha) = [Total Discharge Rate (kg/min) / (Machine Width (m) × Travel Speed (km/h))] × 600

🚜 Travel Speed
Or measure below
📊 Outlet Discharge Measurements

Measure the discharge from each outlet individually. Run each outlet for a measured time period (minimum 30 seconds) and weigh the fertiliser collected.

Generate outlet input fields first (enter machine width and number of outlets above)

📊 Fertiliser Placement Machine Calibration v1.0.0

Complete the calibration test and calculate the application rate to see results here.

Calibration Process:

  1. Enter machine configuration (width, number of outlets)
  2. Measure or calculate travel speed
  3. Measure discharge from each outlet over a timed period
  4. Calculate individual outlet discharge rates
  5. Calculate total application rate

Note: Placement machines are simpler to calibrate than broadcast spreaders because there is no spreading pattern to measure. Each outlet delivers fertiliser in a line, so uniformity depends on consistent discharge from all outlets.
