IRRIG8: Sprayline calibration

This calibration tool is designed to meet the IrrigationNZ: NZ Irrigation System Performance Assessment Code of Practice – Part E: Sprayline. Download the code for more guidance.  For a more comprehensive assessment, see the Sprayline Evaluation tool.

NOTE: IRRIG8 does not store your data or keep any records. Leaving or refreshing this page will delete all your data, so print reports and export the data or graphs if you want to save them. To have a copy you can reload and edit, download the Save Session csv file and save it. This tool lets you upload it again to automatically repopulate all your data.

Beta version: See disclaimer at foot of page

💧 Collectors

24 containers with the same known opening (over 150 mm; 9 litre buckets work well) in two lines across a representative sprayline: Line 1 straight across a sprinkler, Line 2 half way between two sprinklers. This catches the widest and the narrowest wetted widths.

On each line, L6/R6 go half way between the lane edge (half way to the next set) and the edge of obvious wetting; L5/R5 the same distance inside the lane edge; L1–L4 evenly back to the sprayline. If the wetted width is no more than the lane width there is no overlap: leave out L6/R6 and spread five buckets each side. Set Out Collectors fills in suggested distances.

Run long enough to collect enough water to measure
From the sprayline to the edge of obvious wetting

What is calculated

  • Applied depth after adding the overlap buckets, and the depth for your normal event
  • Distribution uniformity and the excess water use factor
  • Application intensity and flow worked out from the buckets
  • The run time to apply your target depth to 7/8 of the area
